In a match they needed to win to qualify for the Champions Trophy semi-finals, Australia were cruising at 140 for 2, after restricting Pakistan to 205. However, they crumbled spectacularly after Ricky Ponting's dismissal, losing six wickets for 40 runs, and looked in danger of giving India a real chance of progressing. However, Brett Lee kept his cool during the final overs, as the asking rate rose and resources grew thin, and secured a thrilling two-wicket victory off the final ball. Australia will now face England in the semi-final in Centurion, while Pakistan will take on New Zealand in Johannesburg. It has been a roller-coaster ride this, the best match of the tournament. Unfortunately India are knocked out of the tournament, even if they go on to beat the Windies. That's it from me Shashankand Srivathsa, lets all brace ourselves for an exciting semi-final action. Good night, cheers!
Mike Hussey is the Man of the match for his match winning half century.
Ricky Ponting: Probably I've lost all my finger nails in the last half an hour, I tot the Pakistanis bowled beautifully, but hats off to Brett and Hauritz for taking us through.
Younus Khan: We are disappointed at losing such a close game, but we can take heart from the fact that we fought till the end. I think Rana showed a lot of character, but unfortunately we couldn't cross the line.
