Johannesburg: Left-arm speedster Wayne Parnell was on Friday drafted into the South African squad as cover for Friedel de Wet ahead of the fourth and final Test against England. De Wet injured his back while bowling during the drawn third Test in Cape Town, and his inclusion in the final Test will depend on the outcome of a scan, a Cricket South Africa statement said. Cricket South Africa selectors announced a 15-member squad which included four fresh names - leg-spinner Imran Tahir, Alviro Petersen and Ryan McLaren besides Parnell.
Pacer Makhaya Ntini, who won his 100th Test cap in the opening Test at Centurion, was ignored yet again. He last played in the second Test at Durban. Alviro Petersen has been included to give South Africa an option in the opening department, where Ashwell Prince has failed to impress in this series. South Africa failed to put it across England once again in the third Test as the visitors escaped with a draw with a wicket in hand to keep their 1-0 series lead intact.
South Africa squad: Graeme Smith (capt), Hashim Amla, Mark Boucher, AB de Villiers, Friedel de Wet, JP Duminy, Paul Harris,Jacques Kallis, Ryan McLaren, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Alviro Petersen, Ashwell Prince, Dale Steyn, Imran Tahir.
