Karachi: Pakistan selectors have decided not to send Younis Khanfor the third Test against Australia, but consider him for the ODI series thereafter. Chief selector Iqbal Qasim has told reporters that there was no logic behind sending Younus to Australia for the final Test at Hobart as they want to give him more time to regain his touch by playing in the domestic circuit. "We believe that Younus has a definite role in Pakistan team and we would like to see him join the team for the five one-day internationals," he stated.
"We want him to regain his batting confidence," Qasim added. Meanwhile, the former skipper flopped a fourth innings in a row in a drawn match in Karachi. The 32-year-old Younis, who pulled out of Pakistan's tour of New Zealand in November due to poor batting form, managed scores of nine in each of the two innings in the four-day match.Younis played for Habib Bank against Sui Northern Gas. Younis, who was caught at short cover off paceman Imran Ali in the first innings, again fell to a sharp bat-pad catch in the second innings, off spinner Mohammad Hafeez's bowling. Younis managed scores of seven and four for Habib Bank in the final of the country's premier first-class tournament last month.
